In the corridors of power ... New Delhi

In the holtbed of Indian polity lies the historic and ageless city of New Delhi, perhaps one of the very few capitals to have the grace and grandeur of past and present. Well knit with all parts of the country and rightly so for a capital
to be, Delhi is always full of life and colour, making it a place to go for in any season. Marred only by the fact that temperature tends to swing between extremes, Delhi still remains a dream destination for all proud Indians.

What to do in Delhi ?

A city with multiple facets, capital of India has wide options on the table for a traveller to choose. What should attract a traveller actually depends upon what one wants to get a taste of. From the boiling pot of politics and diplomacy to the resting place of starwalts, the city nails it all.
Few limelights hard to miss in Delhi are :
1. Birla Temple:
Carved out of beautiful marbles, the temple is a hot spot for tourists owing to its serenity.

2. Rashtrapati Bhavan :
Built and named as viceroy's house by the Britishers, Rashtrapati Bhavan with a campus of 320 acres and numerous rooms for offices and staffs, is an immaculate symbol of Indian power. The sight of the tricolour hoisted high on top of the Rashtrapati Bhavan is a feeling close to heart for every patriot. Though not permitted for the general public, the Rashtrapati Bhavan can be seen and admired for its artistic beauty from outside by tourists.

3. Indian parliament
The temple of Indian democracy is located next to the Rashtrapati Bhavan as one of the most remarkable signs of people's rule.  Built in a circular manner resembling the Ashok chakra, parliament building is the seat of delibrations that can alter the future of India.Due to security reasons, entry into the building is restricted but it can nevertheless be seen from outside.

4. India gate:
Largest war memorial on Indian soil, India gate was initially built in memory of Indian soldiers killed in the first world war with the names of war heroes etched on it. Post the 1971 war, a black plinth with a lamp and an inverted rifle covered by a military helmet was placed in the India gate and was named as Amar Jawan Jyoti.

5. Resting places of various leaders :
Raj ghat and associated memorials draw fair crowd of tourists paying tributes to the starwalts who changed the course of India with their charismatic leadership.
5. Agra fort
A few hours journey from the national capital lands you in perhaps one of the most sought after place in India , Agra. And when in Agra, the fort is unmisable. Built by mughals, the fort has artistic imprints of many kings.
6. Taj Mahal
A monument which left many wordless to describe its beauty, including princess Diana credits itself a place in the wonders of the world. Any attempt to describe its beauty would be futile and hence the pic.

7. Qutub Minar:
The list of Delhi's architectural bounty runs unending but the Qutub Minar with its history and grandeur is hard to miss.

7. Shopping
Last but not the least, Delhi is a heaven for shoppers to shop till dropping dead. Chandni chowk, khan market and janpath Marg are few among the many places to be.

Setting aside the not so friendly populace of the national capital of India, Delhi has a bag full to offer for any tourist to cherish as memories.
