Wagamon- A Sleepy little queen of hills in Kerala











Kerala has always been on top of go-to lists for all travelers. Though there are many places to visit and make memories in Kerala, Wagamon, has somehow remained elusive. A blessing in disguise, this lack of attention has ensured that the place still retains its pristine form. Situated at distance of 40 Km from Pala, this hill town is connected by road blessed with natures bountifulness.

When to be there ?

Being a hill station, the climate of Wagamon remains cools and pleasant through out the year. For those with a flair for monsoon, the rainy months of June and July are the best time to be, though travelling can be gruesome when it rains.

What to do ?
Wagamon has an exciting package of sight seeing and trekking on offer.Once there, here is a list of things to do in Wagamon.

1. Mottakunnu or The Wagamon Meadows:
In local dialect, Mottakunnu stands for small hills devoid of any vegetation. The Sight of vast expanse of undulation hills rolled out till the skies is worth seeing. It offers a canvas of many colours ranging from green yellow and grey.








2. Tea Gardens:Like any other hill station, Wagamon is blessed with tea gardens and the associated greenery.
3. Pine Forests :
One of the most sought after place is the Pine forests. Imagine walking amidst tall trees all growing like disciplined soldiers. A stroll through those tall trees with the roads cushioned with pine leaves is an experience in itself.




3. Kurishumala , Thangal Para and Murugan Mala:
These three hills are religious places visited by devotees seeking blessings. Though religious, these hills rest in the lap of nature and nevertheless soothe the eyes of a traveller.

4. Marmala and Shivaganga Waterfalls: 
Shivaganga/palozhukum waterfall and Marmala waterfall has been a heartthrob for tourist flocking the hills. Carefully planning your visit to avoid heavy downpours during monsoons let's you have a relishing experience of the falls..

5.Suicide point :  As at every hill station Vagamon also has a breathtaking cliff view with lush vegetation that has earned the notorious tag of being suicide point. Of late, the point has got some facelift for attracting more tourists.

For those interested in adventure sports, options like paragliding offer an interesting option to ponder.
Though suggested for a one day trip, places like Ulipooni wildlife sanctuary and Idukki dam lie in the vicinity and should be clubbed with.
