Varkala: The cliffed beach
Surrounded by sea on both sides, South India is blessed with some really breath taking beaches. Be it shallow beaches of Goa or the longest Indian beach of Marina, all of them draw huge crowds for some reason or the other. With that said, what stands out is the Varkala Beach and something uniquely associated with it. It has a guardian looking over it, if you would like to call a Cliff by that moniker. And thats not it, it has a hippie culture to boast of. Not very long ago, this beach was oblivious to most wandering eyes though it was famous as a religious place. Not very far off from the capital city of Trivandrum, the beach stands well connected and draws people for all the right reasons. While sun bathing and shallow sea swimming is common as in other beaches, staying in many resorts overlooking the sea is a different experience altogether.
